The geography
Where exactly the volcano in Tenerife stands
In the middle, and visible from nearly everywhere. The island is essentially one big mountain with towns around the edge of it. That is why the volcano in Tenerife is visible from so many hotel balconies, and why the drive up is a climb from wherever you start rather than a journey across flat ground.
Inside a national park. The cone does not stand alone: around it is Teide National Park, and under it is the caldera of Las Cañadas, the wide old bowl whose flat floor the roads cross. When a listing says it visits the park, it means that floor, the viewpoints on it and the rock formations at Roques de García.
The volcano in Tenerife name is Teide. Mount Teide in English, Pico del Teide in Spanish, El Teide in conversation, and all three mean the same mountain. Beside it stands a second cone, Pico Viejo, whose lava field covers the south-west side of the massif.
